Hi from Steve. Welcome to the seventh issue of this Friday newsletter. My aim is to give you the most helpful news and updates for WordPress publishers. If you want more regular updates, join our Facebook group.
How to Use Newspack for Any WordPress Publisher
Here at KinshiPress, I write about WordPress for publishers.
One of the key players in the WordPress publishing ecosystem is Newspack. Newspack is a project from Automattic that aims to help small newspapers run their sites on WordPress.
Did you know that you can download and use Newspack for your own clients and projects?
I’ve spoken with several WordPress publishers who have launched publications for customers, using Newspack.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to get started with Newspack on your own hosting platform.
More Links for WordPress publishers
- If you read one story this week, check out this article in The New Yorker about a small-time paper in Oklahoma. The McCurtain County Gazette is run by a husband, wife, and son. They have a small WordPress site but have broken a big story.
- Pete Ericson and Stewart Ritchie talked on the The Modern Media podcast about monetizing your readership and mastering paywalls.
- If you use a lot of taxonomy terms on your sites, take a look at this new “Linked Terms” feature in the TaxoPress plugin. When the main term is added to a post, the linked terms will be added also. For sites with a lot of terms, this feature makes it easier and quicker for your users to add the correct terms.
Thanks for joining us for this seventh issue.
I build WordPress tools for publishers at PublishPress, TaxoPress, MetaSlider, and Logtivity. Here at KinshiPress I write about what I’m seeing with publishers we deal with each day. This newsletter uses the Newsletter Glue plugin. Click here to email me anything, including tips for future issues.
